Our meeting and event schedule for 2025 is given below. Whilst all the association meetings and events are confirmed for the Summer, our Winter programme is still being finalised and will be published at the end of the summer 2025.
Apiary Meetings
At the meetings groups of members examine the various hives under the guidance of experienced members. Everyone gets the chance to see what is going on in the colony, what is needed and to handle the bees, beginners will find this of special interest. We do have a range of bee suits, veils etc that can be borrowed, with 24 hours notice, during the meetings, but if you have your own then please bring them.
Important:
Visitors must make sure that their suits and boots are clean and that they wear clean washing up or disposable gloves. These measures are to prevent, or at least minimise, the spread of disease. Please bring your own Antihistamine if you need to treat your own bee stings while visiting the out-Apiaries.
For security reasons the locations of all apiaries are not published. Directions to Divisional apiaries are given on the secure page. Contact Gerald for access to this.
The Brighton & Lewes Division of the SBKA cannot accept any responsibility for loss, injury or damage sustained by persons in consequence of their participation in activities arranged.

Access to the location of the out apiaries, for health and safety reasons, is available via user name and password to members only. Contact the Webmaster
Apiary meeting times vary. Please check as some are morning meetings. Bring a mug for tea / coffee and a cake to share. There are no toilets or running water on any of the sites. Please bring your own anti-bacterial gel to wash your hands. Please take your mug home to wash it after the meeting.
All our outdoor events are affected by the weather conditions. Use the WhatsApp group chat for information about weather conditions and cancellations before heading out, to avoid disappointment. If you are not attending a course at one of our apiaries, and would like to join us on site, you can, but please contact our apiary managers at least 24 hours before the meeting on our WhatsApp chat groups, to make sure that we have space for you and your car.
Please do not wear bee suits or jackets which have a strong smell of washing powder/liquid or soft rinse, aftershave or perfume – The bees are inquisitive, they will come to investigate you and your enticing scent.
